Program Description

If you are a pastor or professional minister doing any type of ministry formation or development, you know the value of having quality, updated, training materials. You also know the development time required to prepare for training classes. We save you time and money and increase the quality of your formation programs by offering training materials to suit the needs of your ministerial organization.

ACTS: A Call to Serve provides training materials for the laity who are called to:

  • Visit the sick
  • Preside at Communion Services, Funeral Vigils, Prayer Services or serve in a Worship Ministry
  • Lead a commission, parish council, or ministry group
  • Serve as Pastoral Ministers

ACTS is a program to introduce new lay ministers to the scope of parish service and to enhance the quality of veteran ministers.

ACTS is a six-hour workshop designed to explore:

  • What is Ministry
  • Who is a Minister
  • How do we Minister

The What of Ministry traces our call to serve through both the first and second testaments, the signs and symbols of our Catholic heritage and Church documents.

Who is a Minster explores the various qualities of a minister – as a person of presence, listening and prayer. Practical communication skills are presented to enhance one’s ministry.

During the How of Ministry, participants are invited to focus on a particular kind of ministry (Pastoral Care, Worship and Leadership) and they are presented with the tools for success for each of these ministries.

Components – Instruction Manual, Power Point CD, and Participant Journal

The Instruction Manual provides in depth, up to date, well organized information authored by Master Adult Educators who are trained in adult education process. A Power Point presentation is included with the Instruction Manual. The CD provides a helpful tool which accompanies all three sections of the Instruction Manual. References to both the participant’s journal pages and the power point slides are included in the manual to enable the instructor to easily manage the information.

The Participant Journals are coordinated with the Instruction Manual to enable the participants to be actively involved in the presentation and then have a useful resource to keep after completion of the workshop.
